Days 5 - Our Final Day in La Herradura
Day 5: Final Day in La Herradura
We needed a day of rest, laundry and a slow pace.
We all slept in, still struggling to adapt to Spanish time, which means a late wake up, and also late bedtimes. The boys have averaged a bedtime of 11pm, with a wake-up of 8:30-9am. It’s been marvelous, but it’s taken its toll and we’re all a little tired.
Today, we started our day with a family workout, which included running up and down the hill outside our apartment, and some circuit training indoors. We simply have to work off all of the baguettes, cheese and wine. I even discovered a delightful gluten free bread, so it was time for some exercise!
We then headed to the beach at the Marina of La Herradura, a small public beach frequented by locals with a great beachside restaurant. Zach and I rented beach chairs and enjoyed some time relaxing and people watching, while Colton and Aaron took two separate hikes out to the rock formations.
They made it to the very end, and Colton told Aaron he was having the time of his life! Always our adventurer.
We ate lunch at the restaurant on the beach, while we watched Nadal win the French Open finals. We discovered a new favorite wine, a white Rueda, and took a picture of the label to see if we can find it back in the states when we return. We also discovered the garlic shrimp tapa, which were incredible.
We finished our day packing up as we head out to Seville tomorrow, after enjoying a final happy hour overlooking the gorgeous bay of La Herradura. Our apartment and the views outside on our terrace were the absolute highlight of our time on the Costa del Sol.
